Matilda Asante-Asiedu to represent BoG Governor Asiama at GoldBod
Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama has appointed Second Deputy Governor Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu to represent him at all GoldBod Board meetings.
The appointment takes effect on Monday, May 11, 2026, according to a letter signed by Dr. Asiama.
Under the arrangement, Mrs. Asante-Asiedu will attend and fully participate in all GoldBod Board meetings on behalf of the Governor. She will also represent his interests and exercise the rights and responsibilities attached to his position as a member of the GoldBod Board.
Dr. Asiama said the appointment gives the Second Deputy Governor the authority to contribute to Board discussions and take part in matters on his behalf.
“Mrs. Asante-Asiedu is duly nominated to represent my interests, contribute to deliberations, and exercise all rights and responsibilities vested in me as a member of the Board,” the Governor stated.
The Governor also asked the GoldBod Board to provide Mrs. Asante-Asiedu with the necessary support to carry out the assignment.
“Kindly extend to her the necessary courtesies to enable her to carry out this role effectively,” Dr Asiama said.
The letter was addressed to the GoldBod Board and copied to the First Deputy Governor and the Second Deputy Governor.
Mrs. Asante-Asiedu is the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana. She also serves on the Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee.
Her responsibilities at the central bank include banking supervision, financial stability, finance and banking, among other areas.
The appointment therefore places a senior Bank of Ghana official at GoldBod Board meetings as the Governor’s authorised representative. Mrs. Asante-Asiedu will participate fully in the meetings and represent the Governor’s interests during Board deliberations.
Dr. Asiama’s decision comes with the authority clearly defined in his letter. Mrs. Asante-Asiedu is not only expected to attend the meetings but will also exercise the rights and responsibilities vested in the Governor as a GoldBod Board member.
The GoldBod Board has consequently been directed to extend the necessary courtesies to her so she can perform the role effectively.
The appointment is effective from May 11, 2026, and covers all GoldBod Board meetings, according to the Governor’s letter.
